For massed start road races and cyclo-cross events only wheel designs granted prior approval by the UCI may be used. Wheels will have minimum 12 spokes; spokes can be round, flattened or oval, as far as no dimension of their sections exceeds 10 mm. In order to be granted approval wheels must have passed a rupture test as prescribed by the UCI in a laboratory approved by the UCI. The test results must show that the rupture characteristics obtained are compatible with those resulting from an impact sustained during normal use of the wheel. The following criteria must be fulfilled:
- Handlebars shall be of a standard or 'Classic' style. Clip on handlebar extensions whose sole purpose is to place the rider in a streamlined aerodynamic position are prohibited (UCI Rule 1.3.023 does not apply to these categories).
- Any more information on bikes can be found on the NSW Cycling website.
Phones and iPods are not permitted for use during the race, phones may be carried to be used to report any accidents

Lights
- Lights must be fitted to all bikes on the track after 6:30pm. If you are on the track without lights after this you will be stopped and asked to fit them before proceeding on your next lap. While feeding is taking place, the solo rider must not be seen to be receiving any help with drafting or pushing from the feeder, penalties will apply. A solo rider may be fed by a fellow competitor on the course and may work with them providing the rider is the current rider on the team (eg has the 'baton'.) The feeding rider must enter and exit the course via the transition area, faliure to do this, may also result in a penalty. A feeding rider will be allowed to start feeding on the course only after 11am.
- Solo riders are to supply their own vests if they wish to be feed out on course.
TEAMS
- Transition this year will be a walk trough transition, with the rider coming in off their lap required to dismount their bike and transition on the grass with the next rider then fitting their tag an proceeding to marked gates to rejoin the race.
- Only one rider from each team is permitted on the course at any one time, the baton attached to the front forks needs to be exchanged before the next rider may take to the course.
- Mixed teams are all ways the hardest to police, so we as officials would like to see honesty with in the race, if you are racing as a mixed team please ensure that the female part of your team get a fair run. We all like to win, but all the riding should be split fairly with each rider at least doing a min of 2 hours on the course each. We will be watching, so please ensure all receive a fair go.
- Baton changes must only be made in the transition area, if a change is made outside this area it will be investigated and penaltys may apply.
